Victoria's Secret was founded in 1977 by Roy and Gaye Raymond. The pair opened their first stores in San Francisco to change how consumers shopped for lingerie, offering modern, sophisticated and sensual designs. Limited Brands purchased the brand in 1982 and propelled it to international acclaim. Its first fragrance was launched in 1989, followed by the Dream Angels collection in 2000. Embarrassed while trying to buy lingerie for his wife in a department store, Victoria’s Secret founder Roy Raymond, decided to open a store as a safe haven for men trying to purchase such items.
