Sergio Tacchini was born in Italy in the 1930s and became a professional tennis player. During that time, he established the eponymous brand that designed innovative sportswear specifically for athletes. The company made a name for itself by outfitting world tennis stars such as Martina Navratilova and Pat Cash, as well as the national Italian basketball team and Formula One drivers. The first fragrance was released in 1987, called Sergio Tacchini Homme.
