Charles Armand Roger and Charles Martial Gallet established the Roger & Gallet company in 1862 after purchasing Johann Maria Farina’s original fragrance formulas from his great grand-nephew Jean Marie Farina. The two launched Jean Marie Farina Extra Vieille as the brand’s debut scent, based on the elder Farina’s first formula dating to the 1700s.
