After learning to incorporate Arab ingredients, such as oud, incense, sandalwood, and cedar, the perfumer launched Montale in 2003 when he returned to Paris, France, with the goal of introducing Europeans to oud-based fragrances. In 2008, he introduced a second brand, Mancera, which offers lighter, fresher versions of the same fragrances.
