Pierre Montale, the designer behind the perfume house of the same name, founded his business in Paris in 2003. Drawing on his experience in Saudi Arabia, where he created perfumes for nobility, he became the first French fragrance designer to create an entire line of scents based on the rare and highly prized resin called oud.
