Akowa by M. Micallef Cologne. An extension of its roots, Akowa is a mysterious and powerful elixir that parallels the African tribe for whom it is
named. Orange blossom, bergamot, amber and patchouli dance together in this earthy concoction, with warm notes such as cocoa and white musk to provide restraint and balance. To add to the suspense, perfumers Geoffrey Nejman and Jean Claude Astier have excluded a secret African ingredient so it won’t be revealed. When applied to the pulse points on
the neck, the fragrance infuses an evening out or everyday wear.
Released in 2015 by M. Micallef in collaboration with the aforementioned perfumers, Akowa is an enigmatic fragrance for the bold-hearted. As is demonstrated through this scent, Micallef is an artist and designer who has been making fragrances since 1997.
The flacon is masculine and modern, with a stark, matte black finish. Upon closer inspection, a textured desert-like strip runs across the bottle, further enhancing the mystique of what’s inside.
