Founded by René Lalique in 1988, Lalique began as a glassware design company in France. The company has gained recognition for its unique hood ornaments, perfume bottles and vases. The brand also produces decorative glass pieces, bookends, jewelry and art. After René died, his son Marc Lalique ran the company. Art and Fragrance has run the company since 2010. The primary production center, Alsace Glassworks, is located in Cristallerie Lalique in Wingen-sur-Moder.
René Jules Lalique is born on April 6,1860, in the village of Ay, in the Champagne region of France. Two years later, his father, a Parisian mercantile agent, moves his family to a suburb of Paris. They return to Ay for summer holidays, and Lalique will have a lifelong attachment to his native countryside. In 1872 Enters Collège Turgot where he begins studying drawing with Justin-Marie Lequien.
