René Lalique founded his namesake company in the 1800s. The French native starting apprenticing for a goldsmith when he was just 12 years old. After opening his own jewelry business, he then turned his attention to glassware. He created gorgeous vessels to hold Francois Coty's scents. Lalique's manufacturing process allowed companies to produce perfume bottles at large scale, lowering the cost of the glassware. His granddaughter, Marie-Claude, took the family tradition one step further by starting a fragrance line.
