A limited edition fragrance launched in 2016, Jean Paul Gaultier Le Male Popeye is inspired by the legendary cartoon character. The bottle even features Popeye in the classic Gaultier stripes. The masculine, aromatic cologne starts with top notes of mint, aldehydes and neroli. The heart features some woody notes along with sage and clary sage. Finally, the base ingredients of tonka bean, sandalwood and vanilla add a touch of
sweetness. A few sprays of this scent and you will feel just like a sailor – no spinach required!
Jean Paul Gaultier is a French fashion designer who was mentored by Jean Patou and Pierre Cardin. Gaultier released his first clothing line in 1976 and later became famous for designing Madonna's legendary cone bra. His first fragrance hit the market in 1993, and he has since produced over 100 scents. He makes these perfumes with the help of experienced noses, including Steve Demercado and Francis Kurkdjian.
Born in 1952 in France, Jean Paul Gaultier has managed to make a name for himself in fashion without any formal training. Sending sketches to various couture stylists Gaultier managed to get in the door at Pierre Cardin as an assistant in 1970. Setting up his own label in 1976, Gaultier’s edgier side came to light taking his inspiration more from the London street scene than Parisian couture.
