American avant-garde perfumer Christopher Brosius and business partner Christopher Gable founded Demeter Fragrance Library in 1993. The New York-based company debuted its first three fragrances in 1996 – Dirt, Grass and Tomato. This trio of scents introduced the world to Demeter’s fragrance crafting approach: linear compositions eliciting memories through scent. The niche brand expanded to the United Kingdom, doing business as The Library of Fragrance. Its catalogue goes literally from A to Z, with almost 400 fragrances including Apple Blossom, Crayon, Egg Nog and the limited edition Zombie.
