Named after Danae, the Greek goddess of beauty, Dana was founded by
Javier Serra, former executive of Myrurgia. The perfume house was originally located in Spain but relocated to France soon after it was founded and then to the United States in 1940. It has produced such well-known scents as Tabu, Ambush and the men’s fragrance English Leather in collaboration with perfume designers Iff, Benoist Lapouza, Loc Dong and Jean Carles. Love’s Eau So Fearless comes in a lavender bottle with a gold heart on the front.
The house of Dana was established in 1932 in Barcelona, Spain by Javier Sierra, formerly with the Spanish perfume house of Myrurgia. The house was named after Danae, the mother of Perseus in Greek mythology. An alleged great beauty, Danae has come to symbolize female beauty and it is her representation that graced the company’s logo.
