Fathom is a product of Dana. Founded in Barcelona, Spain, in
1921, its creator, Javier Serra, was inspired by the many uses of the name to convey beauty throughout history. In Greek mythology, Dana was the nymph responsible for flowers along the banks of the Mediterranean. In Basque, it means success. In Arabic it means white pearl. Beautiful women of ancient Egypt were given this name. The Art Deco label, a drawing of a woman’s head based on a sculpture by Mariano Andreu, illustrates the classical beauty at the brand’s roots.
The house of Dana was established in 1932 in Barcelona, Spain by Javier Sierra, formerly with the Spanish perfume house of Myrurgia. The house was named after Danae, the mother of Perseus in Greek mythology. An alleged great beauty, Danae has come to symbolize female beauty and it is her representation that graced the company’s logo.
