American fashion designer Tom Ford began his career in fashion working for designer Cathy Hardwick. He later accepted a job with Perry Ellis before moving to Europe to work for Italian fashion house Gucci in 1990. He left the company in 2004 to create his own brand which launched the following year. His first fragrance was released with Estee Lauder in 2006.
