Roberto Cavalli studied at the Florence Art Academy in
the early 1960s, a career in fashion born when his textile prints caught the eye of Italian clothiers. By 1970, Paris showed Cavalli’s first fashion line and 1972 saw him open his first boutique in Saint-Tropez. The 90s found Cavalli’s techniques in the spotlight again, this time for a new method to develop acid-washed denim through sandblasting. His self-named fragrance was also his first one, and the brand continues to pride itself on always being on the cutting edge of cool.
