Oscar De La Renta was born in the Dominican Republic in 1932 and moved to Spain to study art and fashion. During that time, he began working for Cristobal Balenciaga before moving to Pairs to work at Lanvin in 1960. In 1965, after moving to America, he launched his own brand that garnered immediate success with exquisite fabrics and designs for ready-to-wear clothing. The company has since expanded and the first fragrance was released in 1977.
