In the heart is spicy nutmeg and geranium, a plant redolent of lemony roses. Working with the middle notes is a bottom layer of cedar wood and musty vetiver to provide an earthy counterbalance. The brand was started in 1996 by Martine Micallef, an artist and designer, and Geoffrey Nejman, her husband and financial consultant. Nejman and Astier are the noses of their luxury line. Their main boutique and perfumery is located in Grasse, where perfume is the city’s main concern and attraction. Martine does the perfumes’ artistic crafting while her husband works on the olfactive and business facets.
