The second fragrance of the noted Les Absolus d’Orient collection, Guerlain Ambre Eternel is an animalic leather perfume that was released in 2016. The top notes are ambergris, coriander, cinnamon, and cardamom, providing an aromatic and spicy kick. The middle heart notes are juicy and intoxicating with peach, ylang-ylang, and orange blossom, followed by the base notes, leather and woodsy notes. The scent was created by Thierry Wasser, and is best
worn in cooler months at night.
Founded in 1828, Guerlain is an old perfume house with an incredibly large fragrance base of more than 360 perfumes. Known for using rare and luxurious materials, the company was family-owned until it was acquired by Louis Vuitton Moet Hennessy in 1994. The company is known as an innovator when it comes to synthetics, and the synthetic component coumarin was first added to their perfume “Jicky” in 1889, a fragrance noted as the first “modern” perfume.
As one of the oldest French perfume houses in the world, Guerlain can still hold its own in this day and age.
