Encens Mythique D'orient, launched in 2010, is a unisex fragrance inspired by the oriental warmth of incense. The scent is a blend of earthy musk and sweet spices. The top notes are saffron, aldehydes and rose for a rich floral opening that is followed by central notes of pink pepper, patchouli and vetiver for a distinctive oriental feel reminiscent of spice markets. The base notes ground the fragrance in woody notes and the warmth of ambergris.
While this is all about the incense, it is never cloying or heavy. The aldehydes give it a light, ozone freshness that is unusual in an oriental scent. Thierry Wasser created this rich, mysterious fragrance.
Guerlain was founded over 175 years ago by Pierre-Francois Pascal Guerlain, first carrying soaps and other hygiene products before venturing into fragrances. Three generations of the family kept the family business thriving based on the release of such iconic perfumes as Shalimar. In 1994, the company was purchased by Louis Vuitton Moet Hennessy.
As one of the oldest French perfume houses in the world, Guerlain can still hold its own in this day and age.
