Madame Alix Grès founded her namesake perfume company, Gres, in 1958 after running a boutique selling women's hats and clothing. Her first perfume was produced in 1958 and was called Cabochard. The brand changed hands many times over the years until its 2001 purchase by Silvio Denz. The company is currently based out of Switzerland.
