Originally a fashion house, Gres launched its first perfume in 1958. After the perfume business’ final purchase in 2001, the company moved from Paris to Switzerland. Madame Alix Gres started the business in 1934 working through Wwii and German occupation to create patriotic clothes. She sold the perfume side in 1982 to concentrate on the fashion house.
