In 1949, Etienne Aigner launched his own luxury accessories brand after his own name out of his New York
apartment. The brand quickly became known for its high-quality designs for bags, accessories and wallets. These pieces featured a signature dark red leather that soon became a staple of the brand. Before becoming an accessory craftsman, Aigner started working as a bookbinder in Paris in 1926. He soon developed a knack for working with leather and eventually worked for top designer Christian Dior making bags and belts. After moving to New York in the late 1940s, he officially set out on his own and began selling items under his own name.
