company Armand Basi, the nose behind this scent in particular is French-born yet Armenian-blooded perfumer Maison Francis Kurkdjian. Kurkdjian decided when he was 15 years old that he would be a perfumer when he grew up and his decision has paid off in spades: His breakout scent, Le Male for Jean Paul Gaultier, was released in 1995. In 2001 he opened his first perfume workshop and since then his name has been associated with various designer and celebrity perfumes, along with his own original creations.
Armand Basi the brand had its start with Mercedes Basi in 1948 as a workshop in Barcelona producing high quality knitwear for the finest establishments in Spain. Sons Armand and Josep took over the business in 1958 and expanded operations to include a factory, acquired the rights to produce licensed wear such as Lacoste and moved the sale of their premium knitwear from department and concession stores to stand alone boutiques.
