Valentino was established by its namesake, Valentino Garavani, when he opened a shop in 1959 after working for other design houses such as Balenciaga. The brand soon became synonymous with a particular shade often found in the designs, called “Valentino Red” that is still seen today. The first fragrance was released in 1978 and since that time various perfumers including Antoine Lie, Fabrice Pellegrin and Harry Fremont have collaborated with the brand.
