Review of Black Jeans by A. Woolsey
Black Jeans is the best scent ever released by the House of Versace, which is why it's sad it's discontinued. A bouquet of herbs and florals over a bed of sweet tobacco (a favorite base of Italian perfumers), the overall effect is anise-like. However, Black Jeans is thin, not deep or heavy. This is characteristic of Italian fragrances in general. So while the scent does not get cloying or loud, it also does not develop much or last terribly long. Still, it is very good and was the one Versace scent that should never have been discontinued. (For a more complex, bolder version, look for YSL's Rive Gauche pour Homme.)

Review of Black Jeans by Justin Meyer
Versace Black Jeans is an incredible combination of lemon, lavender and herbs (tarragon, thyme). The lemon makes its bold, citric appearance right from the beginning and stays a part of the fragrance as lavender and—perhaps—geranium appears to tame the wildness of the lemon while adding another dimension to the fragrance. As Black Jeans begins to settle down, herbs and musky notes appear to add yet another facet to the fragrance. The result is a mysterious, unique, and quite impressive fragrance. Had Black Jeans been released as an independent fragrance (that is not part of the Jeans line), I believe that it would still be in production today. However, Black Jeans is not for everyone, the same qualities that to me make Black Jeans an amazing enigmatic fragrance may lead others to call it a chaotic mess. Still, for the price offered by Perfume.com, I can’t see how it wouldn’t be worth it to try.
