Adding Fracas to your perfume collection is like letting the genie out of the bottle, envisioning yourself as Maria Callas in one of her famous opera roles or driving a bright red Ferrari in a sea of Fiats. In short, it’s a gesture of purposeful and intense drama! This hot and potent classic by couturier Robert Piguet was first issued in 1948 and still stands as the standard against which all white flowers fragrances measure up: Never tame, full of shocking sensuality, redolent of dusk and heated skin, with Fracas you’re borne along on the rubbery, fascinating note of tuberose, the “queen of the night” which Victorian girls were forbidden to smell in case they had a spontaneous, much frowned-upon orgasm.

Thankfully the fresh, green nuance brought by bergamot, green sap, vetiver and geranium manage to hold the intensity of the white flowers at its heart in check (There is also jasmine, orange flower, lily of the valley, white iris and jonquil besides tuberose). The creamy quality of those precious essences is nothing short of breathtakingly beautiful, like Venus emerging from her bath and we could perfectly envision Fracas as the perfume (and the woman wearing it) that launched a thousand ships.
