If Bulgari managed to create a true floral classic with their Bulgari pour Femme by perfumer Sophia Grojsman in 1994, it was only natural that the two most prized flowers in perfumery, rose and jasmine, found themselves the highlight of two subsequent versions of the original. Bulgari Rose Essentielle is one of them, focused on rose and introduced in 2005. A tribute to the world's most prestigious flower - the rose-, the new Bulgari fragrance highlights the graceful Rose Prelude variation, foiled in blackberry and violet leaf for a natural feel as well as living mimosa notes and jasmine, to convey a pastel rendition of elegant femininity. The subtle touches of patchouli and smoky bois de Gaiac essence (from an exotic tree known as lignum vitae, i.e. tree of life) give just a hint of darker sensuality. This supremely romantic and delicate fragrance is presented in a frosted bottle closely echoing the design of the original Bulgari pour Femme, fit for every romantic moment in a woman's life.

I use this as my "rock night" out scent. I love the rose scent, but it is not so terribly delicate that it is too sophisticated for the working class bar. Without giving the wrong impression, it has just enough simplicity or edge. Gives me great memories of a road trip to Wallace, ID and on to Dillon, MT. I also use Princess (punk night) and Flora. My all time favorite no longer exists: Snob, by Le Galion.

The rose top notes really stand out on my skin, but fade away within the hour, leaving a very subtle floral and feminine jasmine and sandlewood combination. Unfortunately I find I have to reapply once or twice a day. Still, the fragrance smells very pretty - and my boyfriend is a fan too!
