I wore this fragrance in my younger days, and as others have said, I was always asked about it. Alas, my source also dried up, and I am so happy to see that young women are still wanting to wear this delightful and truly 'happy' perfume. I only wish that sprays were not the only available method of use.

This is classic french elegance. Jolie Madame smells like kid leather gloves or a handbag with violets spelled on it. So lovely, it is perfect for day or night. The description is sharp floral with hints of moss but on me it is very soft and feminine. I love this fragrance.

I just got Jolie Madame Perfume for Women by Pierre Balmain a few days ago and have been enjoying it. I love the way it smells when I first spray it, fresh and energizing and I love the violets. It is much softer and more delicate than I expected, so feminine. After a few minutes I can smell the leather mixed with flowers, gardenia and mimose. When it has settled,it smells like the french milled soap I bought for my guest bath. powdery and soapy at the same time. Very classy and unusual, and so affordable. I am so glad I bought it.

This remains one of my few "Favourites." It is delicate, memorable, powdery & deliciously dangerous. I feel demurly sexy & yet aggressive when I wear this...my fragrance always reflects my mood. As my boyfriend says: we're in for a crazy/great night! This is able to be worn day & night, summer, winter or fall. I literally have people stop me to ask what I am wearing...I don't tell. I say it was a gift & I didn't recall it's name. LOL This is a beautiful Parfume.........The price is fantastique!!!!! Suzanne Madrid

My introduction to Jolie Madam was through my Great Aunt, a wonderful actress in New York. That was a LONG time ago, but I still remember the beautiful gold tube type spray that was meant to go into a ladie's evening handbag. It was the full perfume, ladylike yet evoking an image in the mind of a True Lady. Glamourous, strong, well mannered yet fun and lively. It used to be that you could only purchase this in europe or through a duty free catalog. Hooray for the internet !! If you like the beautiful Floral of Miss Dior, the mystery of Cabouchard, enjoy Paloma by Paloma Picasso you should give this one a try ! Guaranteed to have your friends guessing while you are out - - and you may meet someone new & quite enjoyable!

I have been wearing Jolie Madam since the age of sixteen when my 20 year old sister purchased it and I instantly fell in love with its aroma. I am now 63 years old and it is a very rare day that I don't wear it. When I couldn't find it in America for some years I had my sisters send it to me from Australia. I just opened a bottle that my mother sent me 13 years ago and on removing the seal it is just as beautiful as the day they bottled it. This is a perfume that the young, middle aged and yes, we older ladies, can wear. My 30 year old daughter has started to wear it and as my husband says what could be better than 2 ladies who smell like a heavenly garden! Jolie Madam will never dissapoint you.

A sophisticated, ladylike but upretentious fragrance. Warms you and everyone around you on a bitter cold or chilly, damp day. Gardenia comes through to make it sweet but not cloying like newer scents. Very rich but not musty. Love this one. Jolie Madame is a classic, oriental, woody fragrance. It is the result of the following top fragrance Notes: gardenia, bergamot and neroli. The middle notes are: coriander, jasmine and orris and the base of the fragrance is: tuberose, vetiver and leather. Jolie Madame is recommended for daytime use.

Jolie Madame is Cabochard's more elegant and refined sister. If you are a fan of leather chypre scents, or if you like a violet note, then this is a must-try. This scent emerged on the market at a time when women seemed not to be afraid to make a bold statement with their scents, and this certainly does, but the addition of the powdery violet lends a femininity not present in other similar scents like Cabochard. Additionally, I don't detect any tobacco leaf. JM changes a great deal from the beginning, through the drydown and at each point, it is a wonder. Fantastic.

Jolie Madame begins very powdery over fresh violet notes. Unlike many other violet fragrances, though, Jolie Madame's violet component has great sturdiness. These are heavy-duty, hardy violets, buttressed by the green smell of petitgrain and the similar but more acerbic lilac. The violet sits on a subtle chypre base of soft wood, moss, and leathery notes. This adds a touch of bitterness when one takes a big whiff up close. The stern leather provides quite a contrast to the delicate violet, but the leather notes are not harsh at all. This is an especially good springtime scent, too, with its bouquet of light, delicate flowers with the surprising, somewhat dark base. It’s got a wonderful vintage feel that somehow seems very modern.

Sometimes the salesperson would have heard of it, but had no idea of where to find it. I received it from a friend for Christmas one year. She was from Iran and had purchased it in Paris.
