and Van Cleef & Arpels Cologne
Van Cleef & Arpels is a luxury French jewelry, watch and perfume company founded in 1906 by Alfred Van Cleef, Charles and Julien Arpels
. With their first location at the Place Vendôme in Paris, they went on to distinguish themselves with their use of precious stones and their innovative stone setting techniques in particular, their Mystery Setting. Their status is further based on their long list of commissions issued by royal and imperial courts as well as by other important world figures...
which have allowed Van Cleef & Arpels to thrive throughout the world. Van Cleef & Arpels were the first French jewelers to open boutiques in Japan and China and remained under the operation and management of family until 1999.
In 1963 the artistic passion at Van Cleef & Arpels was the foundation of George Balanchine’s ballet, Jewels, and was the force behind their first fragrance in 1976. Entitled First, this romantic women’s perfume was promoted as a scented liquid jewel where only the finest and purest ingredients were used by the most talented of perfumers to create a true masterpiece.
The popularity of First inspired a number of other women’s perfumes such as the warm First Love, the casual feminine scent of Van Cleef, the sophisticated Murmure, the beautifully presented Feerie and the distinct seasonal fragrances of the Les Saisons series. Popular men’s colognes include the distinctive Tsar, the dynamic Eau du Tsar, Midnight in Paris and the elegantly refined Van Cleef & Arpels Pour Homme.
