Ungaro is the fashion brand founded by designer Emanuel Ungaro in Paris, France in 1965. He established his own fashion house after working for Balenciaga and Courreges. The brand's women's fashions were known for their draping and their intense patterns and colors. The company added menswear in 1973 and launched its first perfume in 1983. By the late 1990s, Ferragamo became a majority stakeholder in the company, and Emanuel Ungaro Parfums, a partnership between the company, Ferragamo, and Bvlgari, was formed.
