This Spanish surrealist artist became one of the most famous painters of the 20th century and served as a major proponent of modern art. He worked in a variety of media throughout his adventurous career including film, photography and sculpture. He studied at the San Fernando Academy of Fine Arts where he met several his artistic contemporaries including writer Federico Garcia Lorca and experimental filmmaker Luis Bunuel.
