Established in 1913, Italian fashion house Prada was formed by
brothers Mario and Martino Prada. The business was handed down to Mario’s daughter Luisa, who ran the company for nearly 20 years before her own daughter, Miuccia, took over in 1978. What originally began as a Milan-based leather goods store expanded over the decades under the family’s direction to include totes, handbags, shoes, womenswear and menswear. 2003 saw the debut of the company’s exclusive line of “artisan fragrances” at limited department stores and boutiques. Prada Eau de Parfum, the company’s first mass market fragrance, saw its release in 2004. A line of men’s fragrances followed soon after in 2006.
