1881 Cologne

I fell in love with Rive Gauche by Yves Saint Laurent in the 70's and still love it to this day. The fragrance is sophisticated, clean and sexy and doesn't wear off in an hour or two like so many other fragrances do. I have tried many fragrances and I have several I wear on different occassions. But Yves Saint Laurent's Rive Gauche is the fragrance I've had the longest relationship with through the years. I have introduced it to several friends and family members and some of them are still wearing it today. Long story short, it's a wonderful fragrance and I'll probably keep wearing it until I can't anymore...

I started using Rive Gauche by Yves Saint Laurent in the seventies. My husband gave me the perfume and powder (which I would love to have again). It is about the only fragrance I can wear that doesn't make me sneeze. I was so excited when I found I could purchase it online as I had not been able to buy locally for quite a few years and was only able to purchase when I was overseas. You can't go wrong with this one, it is a light fragrance that stays with you. Try it!!!

My european boyfriend gave me a bottle of Rive Gauche by Yves Saint Laurent 7 years ago... since then I've changed boyfriends a few times, but still wear the same perfume, LOVE IT! People do notice it and say it is different and wonderful.

My brother's girlfriend let me smell Rive Gauche by Yves Saint Laurent a very long time ago saying if I liked it I could have it. I WANTED it. I have worn the fragrance for years and it is my "signature" fragrance. Whenever I wear it (95%) - I receive a compliment from men and from women and i continually get comments like "You smell so good."; "What is that wonderful scent you are wearing." ; "Oooo, let me sit by you; I love the way you smell."; "What are you wearing? I have to get that for my wife/girlfriend."; "Lady, I am taken, but if I weren't, I would hug you all over." These are just a few.. Another one that swept me away from the beginning. Granted, I am a big fan of amber and also of aldehydes, so when things go powdery and/or soapy, I'm all about it. With Rive Gauche by Yves Saint Laurent, you get a bit of both, and you also get a perfectly balance blend of florals and green notes. Classified as "sharp" and I can see why, but in a very beautiful, very wearable way. This is a fragrance that is utterly polished and sophisticated, while still being light enough to go with any mood or occasion. Works for formal or casual, for summer as well as winter.

I have been wearing Rive Gauche by Yves Saint Laurent for nearly 40 years. It is "MY" fragrance. It is the only one I wear. My children equate its scent with me. To them it is "mom". There is none other like it. Not only does it smell great and lingers on and on, it does not cause sneezing and headaches nor does it seem to bother or offend people in public places as is so much the concern today. It also never smells "stale". It has been increasingly hard to find. The last time I stocked up on it was in the Bahamas quite a long time ago. I have been carefully rationing out my last bottle and dreading using it all up. Thankfully I have found this site and hope my rationing days are over. I used to use the powder as well, and would love to once again if it were available.

I've never grown tired of Rive Gauche by Yves Saint Laurent, with its' warm, intoxicating feast of feminine elements. It may be hard to find other places, but I'll buy it from Perfume.com and continue to enjoy the compliments I get when I wear this sexy fragrance!

This crisp, modern fragrance was all the rage in the 1980's and its striped metal flacon is still an icon of contemporary fashion. Rive Gauche by Yves Saint Laurent is a somewhat oriental, classic grassy, sandalwood and amber, floral. In my mind it is a bit of a poor first cousin to the other, more voluptuous, St Laurent classic, Opium, although Rive Gauche was intended to be more of daytime fragrance. I still enjoy recognizing this scent on someone else, but having it on me all day is something I no longer enjoy as much as I did in my youth, when pungent scents were more pleasing to me...perhaps I was more adventurous then??
