Tuvache Gardenia 1933 by Irma Shorell Perfume.
A famous classic among gardenia fragrances, Tuvache Gardenia 1933 is a sultry and smoky floral composition. Opening with clary sage, bitter orange, powdery heliotrope and mysterious cyclamen, its wild floral heart then bursts into bloom with notes of gardenia, soft violet, tuberose, jasmine and ylang-ylang, with an intriguing twist of tarragon. The smoky base has notes of earthy oakmoss, thick benzoin, musk and precious sandalwood. Altogether, it
suggests tropical flowers blooming in an evening jungle. Strong yet feminine, bold yet warm, it is a longtime favorite fragrance with a femme fatale reputation.
This fragrance was released by Irma Shorell in 2012. As its current name suggests, however, the original formula dates from 1933, when the New York based Tuvache brand first launched it as Jungle Gardenia. The Tuvache brand changed hands several times over the decades, and the original Gardenia fragrance had a few different incarnations during that time. After the Irma Shorell house acquired Tuvache in 1999, it re-released some of Tuvache’s beloved favorites. Gardenia 1933 is packaged in an elegant, classic glass bottle with a gold cap.
