Founded in 1828, Guerlain is an old perfume house with an incredibly large fragrance base of more than 360 perfumes. Known for using rare and luxurious materials, the company was family-owned until it was acquired by Louis Vuitton Moet Hennessy in 1994. The company is known as an innovator when it comes to synthetics, and the synthetic component coumarin was first added to their perfume “Jicky” in 1889, a fragrance noted as the first “modern” perfume.
