Library was founded in 1993 by avant-garde perfumer Christopher Brosius and his friend, marketing pro Christopher Gable. The duo crafted and released the brand’s first three scents in 1996. They had unusual names and scent profiles – Grass, Tomato and Dirt – but they quickly became hits with tastemakers and perfume lovers alike. The company has created almost 400 fragrances, offering its extensive catalog in both the United States and Europe. Now owned by Freedom Marketing Group, the U.S. arm is headquartered in New York while the European arm is based in Italy.
