Serge Lutens Perfume and Serge Lutens Cologne

Born in 1942 in France, Serge Lutens is a multi talented artist who has worked with fashion, perfume, hair, photography and film. As an apprentice hairstylist in Lille, Lutens began to experiment with cosmetics and photography, eventually moved to Paris in the 1960s to work for Vogue as a makeup artist. Working with the top models and photographers of the period, Lutens’ skills did not go unnoticed and was commissioned by the house of Dior to produce a line of cosmetics in 1967. Expanding his creative career, Lutens worked as a photographer in the 1970s and proceeded to direct two short films that went on to be shown at the Cannes Film Festival.

In 1980 Shiseido cosmetics hired Lutens to revamp their image as their creative director. This partnership was mutually successful wherein Lutens designed new packaging and cosmetics as well as award winning photographic advertising and Shiseido in return provided Lutens with a start in the fragrance industry by commissioning several fragrances for him—Nombre Noir and Feminite du Bois.

In 2000 Lutens created Parfums-Beaute Serge Lutens to create his own perfumes and colognes. Popular Serge Lutens colognes include the clean and fresh Five O’clock Au Gingembre, the sweet and musty Lorneo 1834 and the aromatically fresh unisex scent of L’Eau Serge Lutens. Popular Serge Lutens perfumes include the romantic Bas de Soie, the Asian themed Ambre Sultan, the spicy yet elegant Chergui and the fruity floral Nuit de Cellphane.

Ghastly!!! I'd rate this a minus 10 if I could! Horrid, sharp, chemically, harsh, caustic top note was so overpowering that I had to whisk the bottle away from my nose as quickly as I could. Who knows what the middle and bottom notes are like, and who could care after having your olfactory senses seared by this overwhelming, toxic concoction audaciously called "perfume"???!!!???
