If you have joined Perfume.com’s mailing list, then you are aware of the $100 gift certificate for a Valentine Day Shopping Spree. This particular Hallmark day is one that I go out of my way for; an excuse to indulge in chocolate, wine and time with Beau.

I’ve decided to take charge this year as the Beau is scheduled to be in Chicago for work this Valentine’s Day and so our romantic soiree will take place in the charming Midwest. I’ve only been there twice on my own, but am hoping the Windy City will blow some enchanting bouts of romance my way—with the aid of some of Chi-town’s best attractions, coupled with my all-encompassing plan for Valentine’s seduction.

First, I’ll engage the Beau’s pulse with a playful outing ice skating at Millennium Park, where we’ll revisit each other’s youthful sides holding hands and gliding beneath the stars. Next: cocktails at Coq d’Or, in the city’s historic Drake Hotel (and in my opinion, the spot for the best martini in town). Following drinks will be dinner at Italian Village, a charming collection of three restaurants with some of the most atmospheric decor I’ve experienced in the U.S., combining old Italy with an air of pure fantasy. The Italian Village has been a staple establishment in Chicago since 1927—and it’s fitting to mention, while speaking of Valentine’s Day, that this was also around the time when women’s fragrances were becoming more bold, brazen and seductive. So, as in true fashion, I will decide on the day between Hypnotic Poison or maybe Alien or perhaps Secret Obsession, haven’t decided but looking to take sensuality to new heights! To finish off our evening in Chicago, I’ve already scheduled for an in-suite massage for two (plus some other activities I won’t reveal in such a public forum, although I invite you to use your imagination).
