Oscar Perfume for Women by Oscar de la Renta became my signature scent in 1981. I love the beautiful white florals and the softly spiced woods. This perfume can be worn anywhere anytime. It truly is a classic. I've recently started to love another scent but it can only be a close second to my Oscar.

When I was attending business school in Erie, PA in 1978, I came upon a sample in The Boston Store. I didn't even know how to pronounce it but immediately loved the scent. It was about a year later when I saw it in a department store and said that's it! That's the scent I love. My 'home' was in central Pennsylvania and we didn't have any big department stores. My boyfriend at the time would have his sister get it for Christmas every year when she was shopping in the city - usually Pittsburgh because that was the closest place that carried it. I have worn Oscar ever since and get a lot of nice compliments. I even had a boss once who would actually tell people not to wear perfume because it made him ill but he never told me as it never bothered him. Years later it was discovered that my sister, who was living in Louisanna had also picked the same fragrance. To this day, we both still wear Oscar. Now my husband (my boyfriend in 1978) gets it for me ever year. It is now more readily available in central Pennsylvania. His mother even bought it for me and I noticed that she also bought one for herself, and frankly, I'm a little jealous - as I was when I found out my sister was wearing it as I consider it "my" perfume. The good thing about my sister wearing it is she knows that I like it and will give me her "extras" as her husband keeps her in good supply. I hope you don't ever stop making it. I don't think I could wear anything else. I absolutely love it!

I am a woman who really didn't like to wear perfumes as I am very sensitive to smell and would get headaches easily. That is until I discovered Oscar in 1979. There was a girl in my office that had it on and I simply fell in love with the scent, so I put it on my wish list for Christmas the year of '79 and it still remains my #1 choice! Thank you for developing a beautiful scent that remains a classic until this day!

This has been my signature scent since 1977 and I rarely wear anything else. It is subtle and feminine; casual to dressy and everything in between. I always get compliments when I wear it. A little goes a long way, but the light scent is noticable hours after your initial application.

OSCAR -- what can I say except I have been wearing ONLY this fragrance since 1978. This is the only fragrance that I can wear that does not give me a headache. The fragrance is subtle and soft and can be worn year around, unlike other fragrances, that can be a bit harsh. If you want a fragrance that others will not be offended by, then Oscar is highly recommended.

OSCAR has a soft, subtle, sexy fragrance that is very pleasant. Men are always telling me how good I smell, and I refuse to wear anything else. I wear it everyday, for both work and play. Nothing else compares. I keep a small bottle in both my car and my desk at work. At the prices at Perfume.com, I can afford to always have a spare bottle on hand. When one bottle runs out is when I reorder. That way there is always an extra bottle on hand, and I don't have to worry about running out. It convenient, too, because I don't have to make a special trip to the department store.

Working in one of our smaller hospitals in South Carolina, I met a man whom I tolerated because of him sick family member. After about 3 weeks of tolerating, I knew it was more than that. I had attended a party and was wearing Oscar de la Renta. With only time to change to uniform, the fragrance got his attention! He asked me what I was wearing and I told him Oscar de la Renta. He said my name is "Oscar". We were married six weeks later and I am a happy housewife. I will wear Oscar as long I live. The fragrance is spellbinding in bed and out.

I was in a restaurant 25 years ago (and I'm only 29!!), and the hostess who was seating my friend and I smelled heavenly. With encouragement from my friend, I chased the hostess around the restaurant until I could catch up with her to find out what perfume she was wearing (true story)! She told me she was wearing Oscar, and it's been my signature fragrance ever since. I have other wonderful fragrances that I enjoy from time to time as well, but it always comes back to Oscar.

It is possible to buy perfumes for less than one would in a department store. For example, a 3.3 ounce eau de toilette spray of Oscar for Women can be found in many department stores for $70. On the internet, it's possible to purchase the same item for about $43. Having said this, why would anyone buy perfume at a department store? The answer comes in three little word...gift with purchase. I discovered Oscar for Women when making a recent purchase of Boucheron at a Jones Store. My $70 perfume and lotion gift set of Boucheron was given to me along with a great box of Oscar de la Renta items including a mini bottle, an spray atomizer, a set of scented soaps, lotions and a pearly veil creme. I finally got a chance to use some of the Oscar For Women samples the other day and I was delighted. The scent begins with a touch of orange blossom and corriander. As the orange blossom becomes more muted, it is replaced by a sweet peach or apricot aroma and a touch of jasmine. I'm normally not a fan of jasmine in perfume, but this was light. It wasn't at all cloying. Finally, behind all these there is the scent of cloves and lavendar. Lavendar is another of those scents I usually find overpowering. It makes me sleepy and it makes my eyes itch. Here, however, it is strictly a background to the other scents. It serves to accentuate rather than to take over. Overall, Oscar for Women is a gorgeous smelling perfume. It is very well balanced. Because it is a slightly headier aroma, I will be saving Oscar for Women for evening wear and for cold weather wear. I think it is too much for summer. In the summer, I like lighter clothes and lighter fragrances. Oscar's lotion, soaps and pearly veil are all very nice on their own. They also work well together for those who like an all-over, single aroma. They do not overpower. The lotion does a good job moisturizing. The pearly veil gives a nice sheen to the skin without being greasy. The soaps have a nice aroma. They are shaped like flower blossoms. They are too small to really be much use, however. They are greyish in color and would be very nice in a fancy soap dish in the right bathroom, but for washing up, I'd only use them as a fall back, or stuffed in a soap sock. In the end, I give OSCAR for women a big thumbs up.
