My father, Hugo, who passed in 1988, wore 4711 until his dying day. I starting using it myself at first to remember him, but then it became my 1 and only fragrance. I will wear it until I pass. My children will NEVER forget this scent either. BUT...I'm just 50, so I look forward to using 4711 cologne and products for MANY years to come. Oh, by the way I am a woman.

Fresh, agreat summer scent, but dissipates all too quickly, like many citrus scents. For a real unique scent, I add lime oil to 4711. Wow! And, it seems to last longer, too!

This splash is " GREAT ". When I'm at work and other people (women the most), ask me what I have on, I tell them Muelhens. They ask, " WHAT!!!!", where can they get it for gifts. I like it for the fresh, clean scent and the big 27oz size it comes in. Honestly, this is the only cologne I use. Great smell at a great price.

It's been around forever, and yes, longevity is a problem, but back before air conditioning was ubiquitous, Europeans would splash 4711 on to cool themselves down. Light and citrusy, never offensive, a classic unisex eau de cologne, 4711 has fans the whole world round. If only it lasted a while longer.

This men's cologne 4711 by Muelhens really smells like no other. While on our honeymoon, my new husband and I traveled through Europe and chose gifts for our respective families. I picked up a bottle of this in Great Britain for my dad. He loves it now and won't wear much else. He loves the orchard citrus scent and the fact it doesn't smell really like cologne, just a nice clean manly scent. When my mother-in-law smilingly sniffed him, she said she smelled the wonderful aromas of sandalwood and orange oil, two of her favorite scents. Fortunately we had chosen the unisex blend for her gift, so 4711 by Muelhens became the best gift we brought home for both of them. I think most men would prefer this, and their wives would like for them to use it, ( hint to my own husband ) as it's very non-offensive and just smells so fruity, sexy, outdoors-y and clean.

All I can say about this stuff is it's a classic. One of those colognes that my grandfather bathed in then the smell disappeared over the course of 6-7 minutes. There are some other brands where longevity is an issue but this one really takes the cake. One hour after application it really is like you're not wearing anything at all. If you are looking for a cheap, classic scent then this is it. This is the original cologne and there have been many advancements (mainly for the good) in cologne since the release of this. Although it is not offensive in any way I would never buy it for it's scent value, but might consider buying it as an ornament to have around the house. Much like an oak end table.
