Kors was named in 1997 as the first ever ready to wear designer and creative director at the French fashion house Celine, where he stayed until 2003 but not before he turned the house around with his critically acclaimed designs and notable accessories. Emphasis was once again put on his own label which launched men’s wear in 2002 as well as two other lines in 2004—one of which was a mid-tier line and the other a ready to wear line along with accessories and shoes. In partnership with Estee Lauder, Kors introduced his first women’s perfume, Michael Kors, in 2001 followed by the men’s cologne, Michael Kors for Men, the next year. Other additions to his fragrance collection which encompass his casual luxury style are the Island perfume series including Island Hawaii and Island Capri and the Hollywood series such as Very Hollywood and Very Hollywood Sparkling.
