Balmain Cologne for Men
Pierre Balmain was born in 1914 in St. Jean de Maurienne, a small village not far from Aix-les-Bains a fashionable resort in the Savoy Mountains of France. His family owned a wholesale drapery business. His mother Fracoise, worked at a boutique managed by her two sisters. Balmain's father died when he was only 7 years old and his happiest childhood memories were of playing in the shop where his mother and aunts made dresses. He played with the fabrics and set his heart on becoming a couturier.

Review of Jolie Madame by Anna Mouchet
I wore this fragrance in my younger days, and as others have said, I was always asked about it. Alas, my source also dried up, and I am so happy to see that young women are still wanting to wear this delightful and truly 'happy' perfume. I only wish that sprays were not the only available method of use.

Review of Ivoire de Balmain by Driggs46
In my opinion Ivoire is the star of the Balmain collection. I have worn it since it was introduced in the eighties, and it instantly became a favorite. I have had many compliments over the years. One in particular still stands out. I was crossing the street and passed a man going in the opposite direction. Right after I walked by him he yelled back to me "What perfume are you wearing?" I replied "Ivoire," and he said "it's beautiful." His response stuck with me because he was right, it is beautiful.
For me the opening is all aldehydes, but it settles pretty quickly into chamomile, marigold and then carnation. Then it moves into bergamot, and lemon, and on me it lingers there a while. Finally it settles into the ylang-ylang, and lily-of-the-valley, and along with the base notes of sandalwood, amber, patchouli, musk, and incense they all mingle together for the rest of the day or night. It's a very complex fragrance, but it is really "beautiful" too! As others here have said it's a Masterpiece. And remains to this day one of my favorites.

This is classic french elegance. Jolie Madame smells like kid leather gloves or a handbag with violets spelled on it. So lovely, it is perfect for day or night. The description is sharp floral with hints of moss but on me it is very soft and feminine. I love this fragrance.

Review of Miss Balmain by April
Miss Balmain is a classic woody fragrance. The flowers and woods are beautifully blended and smell like a nosegay of dried flowers. To me it is retro chic and smells very french. It reminds me of walking trough the woods on a crisp fall day. Miss Balmain is perfect for autumn.
