When Issey Miyaké envisioned L'Eau d'Issey by Issey Miyake he conjured up a fragrance line that was "as clear as spring water". Miyaké wanted to combine the spray of a waterfall, the fragrance of flowers, and the scent of springtime forest all rolled up into one delicate fragrance. He and Jacques Cavallier eventually came up with L'Eau d'Issey in 1992.
No t only did Miyaké want to create an avant-garde aquatic floral fragrance but he wanted the look of the bottle to be graced by a slender, sleek bottle which was a symbol of a meeting between East and West.
