A fragrance of an ethereal yet strangely piquant nuance, Kelly Calèche takes sparse elements and interweaves them into a complex and evocative piece of abstract beauty. The name derives from a combination of the Kelly bag (named after Grace Kelly who carried it) and a classic fragrance of the house, Calèche ~in turn named after a fine-lined horse-drawn carriage. This modern and featherweight floral leather was envisioned after the perfumer read Jean Giono's Jean Le Bleu, where the narrator talks of his departed father, a cobbler, who is "making soles in angel leather”. Also by his visit to the vaults of Hermès, where he was impressed by the floralcy of the hides. In Kelly Calèche the tartness of grapefruit introduces a fresh note of charming bittersweet impression, while a little honeyed mimosa, climbing rose, a hint of tuberose and lily of the valley conspire to give a charming formula with only a smidge of leather rendered through the magic of natural narcissus absolute. As chiseled pretty as Grace Kelly herself and very smart.

I gambled on this one because of the notes and the nose (Jean Claude Elena). I bought the EDT without smelling it first, and as I'm sure you know; if you are reading this, that was an expensive gamble. But boy did it pay off! I loved it so much that I bought the EDP as soon as it came out. With that said, both of them take you on an entirely different journey. The EDT is so much lighter, and brighter, while the EDP is very soft and deep. I find that the EDT's rose notes are at the top, with the violet lying just beneath. To me the leather smells like a new pair of gloves and isn't dominate after the first few minutes. It settles nicely into the floral notes with a light vanilla just underneath. For me the EDP has violet and leather notes at the top from the beginning, and they stay there for a long time. It does finally give way to the rose, but the vanilla is barely noticeable. With the understanding that one of the differences between EDP and EDT is that there is a lot more alcohol in the EDT...it really seems to make a very dramatic difference in this fragrance. More so then I have ever noticed in any other fragrance. To me they seem almost like two different scents. One is very bright, and light hearted (day time), and the other is very subdued, sexy and sophisticated (night time). If you are looking for a classy and elegant fragrance either one of these will make you happy!! I love, LOVE, love them both, and wouldn't be without either one of them.

Ihave tried many fine perfumes but i must say that kelly caleche is the best for day time so far. when i wear it every body complements me and ask what that perfume you are wearing. and I reply!!! ( Hermes Kelly Caleche and smile) when i do wear it I have a great day!! I just started wearin it December 09 and ive gone tru 5 bottles already i need to get a new supply next month... I didnt know that they made a body wash and lotion also that nice to know.. ms violet

This is a beautiful scent that is subtle, sophisticated, and elegant. I fell in love with this from a Vogue insert and had to find it and buy it. I wear this in cold weather and it is a contradiction to the fruity, floral cocaphony that every teenager over-spritzes on. My husband LOVES it and I feel wonderful in it.
