Renowned composer Burt Bacharach picked Dionne out of a background vocals group in the mid 1960's, comparing her voice's balance of strength and delicacy to "miniature ships in bottles." Able to bring a raw emotional complexity to simple sing-songy pop tunes, Dionne found an immediate international following. Later, as her labels changed her career slowed, and Dionne was left hosting Psychic Friends Network informercials throughout the '90s. We wonder if she saw that coming.
