Candice Bergen is both beautiful (she's repeatedly been named one of the hottest women in Hollywood) AND a tough cookie. The Boston Legal star also fought the system as a TV journalist in the 90s sitcom Murphy Brown, and her political battles became real when in 1992 Vice President Dan Quayle scolded her character for "mocking the importance of fathers by bearing a child alone and calling it just another lifestyle choice." His serious remarks however, became a joke to the show employees, who wrote Quayle's comments into the script. They also poked fun at the politician in a subsequent episode, where Murphy's character arranges for a truckload of potatoes to be dumped in front of Quayle's residence-- alluding to another infamous incident when Quayle erroneously made a young student spell the word "potato" as "potatoe".
