Sweet and graceful Audrey Hepburn, trained as a ballet dancer, got her first break in acting during the 1951 Broadway showing of Gigi. Swiftly pirouetting into the hearts of audiences, she had a charm and innocence that projected easily onto the screen and made her a director and audience favourite, landing her roles in flicks like 1955's War and Peace and Breakfast At Tiffany's, in 1961. Audrey, before her death in 1993, was also an avid humanitarian, inspired by her war experiences; she spent much of her last years in some of the most desolate, war-torn areas of the world.
