  Narcisse Noir is a fresh soft perfume with a great touch of sophistication and elegance. There is no perfume like it. It is my mother's favorite and my aunts, and now mine. I highly recommend this perfume to a woman who likes to leave a signature fragrance memorable to love ones. When you wear this perfume, people will give you great complements and ask you the name of the fragrance. It is one of the hardest perfumes to find. I was so elated to find it in this site. I bought Narcisse Noir for my mother and aunt for Christmas and they were so excited. They thought I spent a bundle, but perfume.com made it so affordable. I will consider perfume.com for my fragrance orders in the future.

  I've been using Narcisse Noir since 1964. I bought it for the first time right before my then boyfriend (he's now my husband) came home from bootcamp. He love the way I smelled and everytime he went away I sent a cotton ball with Narcisse Noir along with him. He told me it kept me close to his heart. this was during th viet Nam War and my huband served 7 years in the Navy. My children say that the smell of Narcisse Noir is me and that's why I've worn it all these years. Narcisse Noir it truely me, the smell is me! Rosemary Baues

• Review of Narcisse Noir by Scent Hound

  A great big dirty bird, loaded with civet. One of the richest orange blossom scents imaginable, but on some skin types the civet can be downright revolting. Must be used with a light hand. For those lucky ones that don't have a problem wearing it, Narcisse Noir is one of the most sensuous scents ever created. If Narcisse Noir doesn't work for you, may I suggest Narcisse Blanc? It is basically the same fragrance absent the civet.

  An Orange Blossom/Neroli opening so beautiful it could make the angels weep. Narcisse Noir is an all enveloping scent and not for the casual daytime spritz. This one is for going all out in a taffeta gown and black velvet stole, or perhaps a fine silk negligee. it is lush and full bodies and for the time of it's creation in context likely a daring fragrance saved for only the most special of times. it is dark, dark like fine red wine flickering ruby in the firelight.

  1912 was a banner year in the perfume industry for it saw the introduction of three important and groundbreaking fragrances which, happily, are still available and widely popular today: Houbigant’s Quelques Fleurs, Guerlain’s L’Heure Bleue and Caron’s Narcisse Noir. Narcisse Noir was the perfume which single-handedly put the House of Caron on the map. Ernest Daltroff, the founder of Caron, developed this narcotic fragrance by using new absolutes and synthetics, thus laying the groundwork for many generations of perfumes to come. Narcisse Noir is a powerful blend of Persian black narcissus, orange blossom and a civet note that underscores the assertive femininity of this perfume. Think back to 1912 and you can easily see why NN would be such a phenomenal sensation in its day. For that matter, it still is. This is what Gloria Swanson’s character wore in the film classic Sunset Boulevard. It is a heady opening blend of orange blossom, bergamot, lemon, mandarin and petitgrain. Its middle notes are rose, jasmine and jonquil, though they tend to stay in the background, playing second fiddle to the citrus notes in the opening and the black Persian narcissus and civet kick in the middle and base notes. While the EdT of NN is beautiful, I usually prefer the pure parfum version. Narcisse Noir is very potent, and when I say a drop is enough, I mean it. One tiny drop (or spray, if you have the EdT) on the inside of each elbow and you'll be going strong for hours. More than that, and your fragrance will enter the room well before you do. I love how the darkness in Narcisse Noir's background balances the sweetness of the orange blossom. Very oriental and devastatingly feminine, sensual and sophisticated, Narcisse Noir is another masterpiece from Ernest Daltroff. Wear this and you'll be ready for your close up with Mr DeMille . . . or anyone else, for that matter.

• Review of Narcisse Noir by Ruth Scott

  Narcisse Noir goes back to 1911 from its launch from the House of Caron: it is predominatley orange blossom blended in an exotic accord; lasts and gets better the more your wear it. Very classy, sexy scent and was reportedly actress Gloria Swanson's perfume in "Sunset Boulevard". Worth a try; have used it for 30 + years and never tire of it. Especially wonderful in perfume form.
