Here is some transcript from my journal, right around the time I was working my way out of an unfortunate “bad-perm” period (16-year old fragrance of choice, Anais-Anais, btw):

    “Dear Diary,
I decided today, I’m definitely going to marry Christian Slater, have an all-pink wedding, and a Vera Wang dress with a 20-foot train.. strapless. Either that, or I’ll marry Eddie Vedder. The other two parts are totally solid.”

Many a blushing bride (and high-wattage celeb) have dreamed of wearing iconic Vera Wang on their wedding day. Mariah did it. Uma did it. JLo did it… twice.

Vera took her iconic romance to the tents this week, where she debuted her festive Spring collection to an eager audience (including the equally festively-appointed Ivana Trump. Check out her awesome outfit in slide 33 here.)

Style.com reports the collection was inspired by “ancient Rome” and that the end result was “Wang at her romantic best.”

And with all that high-powered romance in her fashion magic wand, it’s no wonder that in 2000 she expanded her scope to include a collection of equally sought-after scents. As a result, Vera Wang was awarded the Hall of Fame award from the acclaimed Fragrance Foundation this year at their annual FiFi Awards. (Go Vera!)

Several Vera Wang superstar scents are making an appearance on our OWN runway this week.

Here, a closer look at some top Vera Wang perfume picks:

    Vera Wang by Vera Wang
Her eponymous fragrance and a perennial perfume.com bestseller, this beauty shines with Bulgarian Rose, Calla Lily, and Mandarin Flower.

    Vera Wang Princess
This “light and playful” scent gets tons of accolades in the beauty mags, including being named “Best Fragrance for Day” by Cosmo Girl readers this year. Highlights include tons of pink fruits and vanilla (not to mention one of the cutest bottle in town.)

    Vera Wang Sheer Veil
If you don’t have a custom-made Vera Wang wedding frock in your budget, here’s your next best bet. Sheer Veil lives at the top of tons of “Top Wedding Fragrances” lists, and you can snap it up here for 26% off. Score!

Most brides experience some degree of stress before the big day — there’s last minute dress fittings, honeymoon packing, talking your Italian Mother out of draping tulle over everything sitting still. (Or maybe that was just me.) Before my December 29th wedding, my fiancé was living 3000 miles away on the left coast while I was in NYC, single-handedly packing the contents of our apartment into FedEx boxes, bidding my besties farewell, interviewing for new jobs in LA, and all the while staying with my future in-laws. (Who, by the way, were very gracious to let me – and all my stuff – live with them for two months.)

By the time I finally made the move and came back to Philadelphia for the big event, I was too busy with last minute details to see straight. Which left no time for extraneous tasks, the not-necessaries but the nice-to-haves, which included picking out a signature wedding day scent. I had heard in various wedding mags about the notion – something sparkling and heavenly, something you’ve never before worn, something that –- because of the olfactory-memory connection — you’d always recall your wedding day when you caught a whiff.

My big day was, nonetheless, blissfully happy and amazingly exhausting. But if you’re getting married and have some spare time, I’d highly suggest taking some me-time to walk through your local department store’s beauty counter and find a fabulous fragrance to sport on your special day. Below, some popular wedding day scents:

    Vera Wang Sheer Veil

    Happy Heart by Clinique

    Philosophy Amazing Grace

    Ralph Lauren Romance

    Daisy by Marc Jacobs

If you’re hitched, what was your wedding day scent? If not, what do you love or recommend?
