In today’s Christian Dior Spring 2009 runway show, the fashion was intense and interesting, but the hair dos were something else altogether.

Estee Lauder just released a “Sensuous Widget” that perfume lovers can add to their desktop, Facebook, or MySpace page. The widget lets users take the Sensuous Style Quiz, get access to a Sensuous Style Newsfeed, and watch Sensuous model videos.
Based on these offerings, I’m unsure of exactly who Lauder is targeting (Sensuous model videos?) But the newsfeed offers exclusive fashion, travel, and food news through a partnership with Style.com, Concierge.com, and Epicurious.com, and seeing as I love all of the above, I’ll give it a whirl.

New York magazine did a round-up of the latest crop of Men’s Fragrances to hit the market. In a very (un)scientific test, they asked guys on the street to spritz-and-sniff, then give their honest (and sometimes hilarious) feedback. Dudes are so precious.
The top pick was 212 Sexy Men by Carolina Herrera — “a woody, spicy, sensual scent that blends notes of bergamot, sandalwood, green leaf, and musk for a thoroughly masculine fragrance.”
Other contenders included Ed Hardy by Christian Audigier, Cartier Roadster, McGraw by Tim McGraw, and Mustang Blue.

After gallavanting around Europe and hitting up Milan Fashion Week, Jennifer Lopez was back to work on Monday, introducing her new fragrance, Deseo for Men, at Macy’s in New York City. With notes of lemon, red berries, cedar leaf, sandalwood, amber, and vanilla, Deseo for Men is the first fragrance for men in Lopez’s scent empire.
Lopez launched Deseo for Women — a woody floral with notes of bergamot, freesia, jasmine, and amber — in 2007.

Allure magazine recently announced its 2008 Best of Beauty Awards. To name the 12th annual awards winners, Allure editors scrubbed, slathered, spritzed, puckered and preened, and ruled out thousands of products before choosing the 182 big winners.
Without further ado, behold the fragrances that made the list:
For Women:
New: Chloe Eau de Parfum
What Allure says: “The rose, cedarwood, and magnolia notes in Chloe blend the best of elegance and Bohemian style.”
Classic: Dior Diorissimo
What Allure says: “A sniff of Dior Diorissimo is like lying in a bed of lilies of the valley. It smells delicate and fresh, and not the least bit priss (or allergy-inducing).”
Floral: Estee Lauder Beyond Paradise
What Allure says: “With notes of blue hyacinth, pink honeysuckle, and Laelia orchid, Estee Lauder Beyond Paradise is like our dream residence–part rain forest, part beach.”
Citrus: Dolce & Gabbana Light Blue
What Allure says: “Not too sweet and not too sour, Dolce & Gabbana Light Blue tempers mandarin orange with a hint of crisp grapefruit peel and spicy Sichuan pepper.”
Spicy: Ralph Lauren Notorious
What Allure says: “The pink peppercorn and patchouli musk in Ralph Lauren Notorious give it strength; peony keeps it feminine.”
Light: Tommy Girl by Tommy Hilfiger
What Allure says: Spiked with apple blossom and honeysuckle, Tommy Girl by Tommy Hilfiger smells as cheery as it sounds, with just enough woodiness to combat the sugar high.”
Sexy: Editions de Parfums Frederic Malle Carnal Flower
What Allure says: “Editions de Parfums Frederic Malle Carnal Flower is aptly named. Its potent, raw tuberose makes us think of one thing: s-e-x.”
For Men:
What Allure says: “The ginger-and-bergamot Burberry Brit for Men is so invigorating, no man (or woman) can resist it.”
What Allure says: “. . .with leatherwood, oakmoss, and tobacco leaf, Tom Ford for Men is rich, smoky, and refined.”
For Both:
Prelude to Love Invitation by Kilian
What Allure says: “The ginger, orange blossom, and iris in Prelude to Love Invitation by Kilian create an understated green aroma that’s as intoxicating on him as it is on you.”

Yesterday’s Olivier Theyskens for Nina Ricci Spring 2009 show at Paris Fashion Week was all about romantic, delicate prints, fabrics, and floor-kissing silhouettes. And legs.
I wonder if Reese Witherspoon — as in years past — will be donning any of these runway looks at this years Oscars?

The fragrance world’s been all aflutter with perfume launches lately, and perhaps none more intriguing than the newest crop of celebrity scents. Jessica Simpson’s Fancy and Christina Aguilera’s Inspire only recently precede today’s announcement of Paris Hilton’s Fairy Dust.
Is there a better or worse chance you’d purchase a fragrance if it’s celebrity branded?
Paris Hilton Fairy Dust, Available Next Month
Next month’s launch of Fairy Dust will mark Paris Hilton’s fifth fragrance. (Following Paris Hilton, Just Me, Can Can, and Heiress). Fairy Dust features notes of sparkling Prosecco accord, pink peony, peach nectar, water lily, and vanilla cream. And PS, the ad will feature Hilton as a fairy. Surprising.
Christina Aguilera Inspire, From $49
Inspire is characterized as a white floral mixed with colorful fruit notes including mango and citrus. Flirty and feminine, the fragrance is meant to “Inspire” self-confidence in the wearer.
Jessica Simpson Fancy, From $49
After the successful launch of Simpson’s Dessert line in 2004, she’s back in the beauty game with the August release of her first fragrance. Fancy is characterized as a floral-oriental and features notes of pear, apricot nectar, gardenia, jasmine, caramel, sandalwood, and vanilla creme.

Style.com says, “Gucci now is a clearly segmented, businesslike collection with no pretense of being anything other than hip, immediately understandable clothes for a young global audience.”
In Thursday’s RTW Spring 2009 Collection, Gucci presented exactly this sentiment in the form of chic, easy, jet-setting togs.
