I haven’t yet let myself be pulled into the world of Gossip Girl, what with Mad Men, The Office, 30 Rock, and Gilmore Girls reruns already on my Tivo plate. But this doesn’t change the fact that I’m completely intrigued by the show. The ads are solid genius, the actors are gorgeous, and the clothes? The clothes. I haven’t been so envious of ensembles since Carrie Bradshaw (and her Manolos) ruled Manhattan. Which is why I was thrilled to see “Gossip Girl Chic Preview, What They’ll Be Wearing This Season” in InStyle’s September issue.
“Former Sex and the City costumer Eric Daman presides over the show’s wardrobe and gave us the sartorial scoop. Serena is ‘going less obviously bohemian and a little more Coco Chanel from the twenties and thirties, but with an androgynous edge and more of a rock and roll vibe’ says Daman. For Park Avenue princess Blair, Daman will be trying out different silhouettes: ‘I’m really into more formfitting and Art Deco-inspired looks for her.’ ”

Each character is perpetually fabulous and consistently dresses to impress, but obviously each exhausts her weekly allowance at a different boutique (a strikingly expensive, exclusive boutique) so her singular style shines through. But one question remains: what’s her signature scent? (OK, there are probably more questions, but let’s concentrate on this one for now.)
Based purely and unscientifically on wardrobes, these are my scent selections for the Gossip Girls:
Serena — a little boho chic “with an androgynous edge and more of a rock and roll vibe” — might wear one of these:
1. Gucci Envy Me A mix of peony, pink pepper, and sensual musk, Gucci Envy Me was created “for the woman who demands attention.”
2. Ralph Lauren Hot “Sexy, flirty, fun” with notes of spicy cinnamon, sandalwood, and mandarin.
3. Viva La Juicy “Tantalizing. Teasing. Tempting.” Enticing and fun with notes of wild berries, honeysuckle, caramel, and vanilla.
Park Avenue Princess Blair’s signature scent could be one of these:
1. Miss Dior Cherie Youthful and feminine, it’s “a modern fragrance that captures the timeless couture spirit of Dior.”
2. Marc Jacobs by Marc Jacobs This soft, white floral scent is both classic and luxurious.
3. Gold by Valentino A glamorous floriental fragrance with notes of Key West lime, mandarin, ginger water lily, and white musk.
